Step-by-Step Guide Getting Into e-Business Working on your e-Business Telling the World about your e-Business Maintaining and Monitoring your e-Business

A way to Establish Online Credibility

One of the most popular ways of driving qualified traffic to your site is through submission of your original articles to free article sites.

Here's how you benefit from article submission.

When you submit your site and it gets accepted, your articles form part of the list.

As a contributing author, you are allowed to put a resource box after your article. Most authors use the resource box to promote their site or to promote themselves as experts. Whichever you wish to promote, the article contains a live link to your site. Here is a sample resource box.

Webmasters and publishers go to these article sites to search for relevant articles for their site.

When your article is chosen by a webmaster, he posts the article in his site or e-zine. This way, you benefit from the site owner's traffic if his visitor becomes interested in what you have written and clicks on the live link.

Different Sites, different requirements

As with everything in the Internet, you will be faced with a number of sites that accept free article submission.  Some accept all articles but some are more stringent; they have human editors to vet through the submissions.  With this in mind, it is better to submit to those article sites that have some restrictions. Quality sites get better quality webmasters.

Here are some of the suubmission guidelines from the better-quality sites:

The article must be original. Whether, it was written by you or you asked someone to write for you, ensure that it is an original.

You must have exclusive rights to the article. Meaning, only you can attach your name to that article. Private Label Rights Articles are not accepted because everyone who bought the PLR can put their names in the articles.

The article must be informative and uselful, with tips, techniques and strategies.  It must not be a blatant sales letter. (An article that unabashedly praises his product or service).

Keep in mind that even if the article site accepts a sales letter article, webmasters will not choose your article for publication. Publishers/webmasters prefer articles that will be useful to their readers.

Your article must be written in proper English, with rules of grammar and punctuation observed.

Your article must not contain pornography/adult material, hate or violence-oriented, suggest racial intolerance, advocate against any individual, have insulting-obscene-degrading tone, or contain excess profanity.

The individual sites will also have their own rules as to what you can include. There are some sites that do not allow a mention of your URL in the body of your article.

Go through each of the rules of the site before you submit an article so as not to waste time: you don't want your artilce tossed in the bin because it it didn't follow the rules.

Some article sites

There are hundreds of article sites in the Internet. These are the more prominent ones: meaning they get a lot of traffic from webmasters.  However, as a marketer, try to submit to as many sites as you can.

Automatic Article Submitters

There are also several software that automatically submits articles. If you have the budget, you may also choose this option. Type in "article submitter" to see your alternatives.

A word on Duplicate Articles

Keep in mind that Google, and perhaps other search engines frown on duplicate content.

Most webmasters simply use the same articles that they have on their site and submit to the article sites.  If these articles are chosen by  a lot of publishers, then you will have a lot of duplicate content.

To get around this, web experts suggest that you write articles specifically for submission to article sites.
