How to write search-engine friendly copy

Copy refers to the text that your visitors will read when they get to your site.

Just as your visitors read your text, search engines also read these text when they come a-crawling. Unlike your visitors, though, they are searching for keywords and keyword phrases.

Here are some guidelines to get your web copy optimized for search engines:

1.  Search engines love text, plenty of it

Have at least 200 words on your page. Preferably, original content.

2.  Your text should include your important keywords.

Words and phrases that appear frequently in a page indicate the meaning of the page.  So when your keywords are mentioned more than three times in a page, your page will have a higher chance of ranking higly for that keyword.

However, you must must ensure that your sentences still make sense and does not sound too "forced" when visitors read it. Remember, your visitors don't really know or care that you are optimizing your page. They simply care whether your content suits what they are looking for.

Let's take an example: Let's say you have to write about an Internet Marketing site.

If you are writing for a print media, such as a magazine or a print ad, you will write like this:
